Reserves: Motherwell 0 Rangers 0

The hard pitch and stiff, chilly breeze did little to encourage the players to attempt much in the way of skilful passing and the ball spent much of the time in the air. It was an unusual sight to see a Motherwell attack boast the presence given by both Britton and Hamilton but their lack of control on the difficult surface rendered them powerless for most of the game.

No goal from this free kick

The first half had little of note to report (which was just as well since the kick off had been brought forward to
1pm and your correspondent arrived at half time as a result!). We were saved by the post on one occasion and our attacking chances were limited to a few attempts by Hamilton and a shot off target from Foran.

We had the help of the wind in the second half and most of the goal mouth activity was in the Rangers box. Despite this there were few opportunities to break the deadlock.

Hamilton
had a twenty five yard blast tipped over the bar and Britton came close with a cheeky back heeled effort from a corner. He followed that up with an eighteen yard shot off target when the least he should have done was to force the keeper to make the stop.

Rangers were reduced to ten men for the last fifteen minutes but we were unable to profit.

On the plus side, the game gave Kerr another run out in the centre of midfield. We may need his presence in the big team sooner rather than later.
