Ross County - 24h on

Our new striker got an hour’s action and he showed enough to suggest that he will keep opposition defenders busy.  Bowman had only a couple of half chances but on both occasions he was unable to make contact with the ball as it ran invitingly across the goal.  It might be that his anticipation and reaction time might improve as he gains game time.

Moult made a welcome return and lost no time in making his mark on proceedings.  He had hardly enough time to break sweat before the referee awarded us a penalty.  He claimed the ball and stroked it into the corner of the net with enough pace to beat Fox.  He’ll be expecting to start the game against Hamilton.

Moult scores from the spot

The spot kick was fashioned by McDonald.  His experience showed as he ensured that Fox had to commit the foul.  He got his foot between the ball and the ‘keeper and left Alan Muir with no option but to point to the spot.  He also invited McEveley to bring him down by crossing in front of the defender and the result was a second yellow card to give us a one man advantage for the final 20 minutes.

Ross County have to be credited for their unwillingness to settle for a point despite the red card.  They continued to attack whenever possible and we had several close calls.  The game could have gone either way and the draw was probably the correct result.

We now have five points from as many games.  There’s no better way to move up the table than by beating our local rivals next week!
