Round Up

We seem to be pursuing Alan McCormack's signature for the new season. A report quotes Malpas, saying “Alan is a player we would like to bring back. Billy Davies was willing to sell Alan, but now we need to see if their new manager wants to keep him. It's a case of waiting."

While Motherwell fans would be delighted to see the return of a midfielder with his qualities it seems unlikely that the new manager (Paul Simpson, ex-Carlisle) would release Alan on a free transfer. Our transfer budget is hardly likely to stretch to any reasonable asking price.

This week's press also note that Malpas is hoping to find up to four players before the end of July. A replacement is needed for Hammell together with a couple of strikers and a right sided midfielder.

Meanwhile our former left back continues to be linked with a move to the English Championship. His agent seems to be working overtime to keep his name prominently positioned. The latest list of clubs said to be interested include Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Derby County, Coventry City as well as Aberdeen.

There is a suggestion from the far north that Ross County are trying to arrange a pre-season game against the Mighty Well in Dingwall. Quite when this could be scheduled is unclear. We are playing at Stenhousmuir on July 12, in NI on July 15, 18, 21 and have WBA at Fir Park on Sunday 23 before the season kick off on July 29.
