Motherwell’s game at Rugby Park was abandoned in the 46th minute as a thick fog descended on the pitch. Referee John Beaton heeded the boos from the crowd as the second half started and after consultation with both managers the inevitable decision was made.
After a fifteen minute delay presumably to allow the backroom staff time to organise vouchers for the replay the official announcement came. With the score at 0-0 it was the obvious and easy decision.
There is no news about the rearrangement but with both teams free of Scottish Cup commitments this Saturday might be the obvious date.
Memories were stretched to recall the last time a Motherwell game was fogged off. Possibly 1958 when we were two down to Celtic at Parkhead with 8 minutes left?
