Skippy Sets Sights on Celtic

The article backs up the information given to ‘Well fans by Stewart Robertson at last week’s Trust AGM when he suggested that the club were optimistic that the ongoing talks with McDonald were likely to result in him signing an extension to his contract in the next few weeks. Scott has one year remaining on his current deal.

Skippy in familiar pose
Speaking before his return to training he said, “I definitely know I will have to do something special now. The season coming is going to be a lot tougher than the last one – but then the second one always is. But seriously I am not thinking about what is going to happen when I get home. I am just going to do my best for Motherwell again and have another good season. I know it is going to be tough back home. Everywhere I go I am going to get noticed now, so I will just have to be careful.”

About his contract renewal he said, “It is not the case that it is done and dusted, although we have talked. But we are still in talks at the moment and there will be more movement in that when I go home.”

The story pointed out that he may be looking for a wee bit of payback in the first game of the season. It seems that Gordon Strachan took the decision to let our hero move on from Southampton…you may remember that another man who made a similar decision, Ian McCall, was paid back with three goals in three games and he’s currently on the dole. I’m sure Gordon will keep this in mind!
