Stevie Hammell Scores - Shock!

Last updated : 10 October 2003 By Firparkcorner

The significant event happened at Perth when the Scotland U21 team beat Lithuania 3-2. The young Scots were two down when he made his mark with ten minutes remaining. He had been involved earlier when his foul caused the penalty which gave the visitors a two goal lead.

Two goals in the last minute from Stephen Hughes brought a dramatic victory which means that we finish at the top of the group.

Stevie has now amassed a total of two senior goals. The last was a volley against Dundee United in January 2002. That debut goal was set up by his ex-colleague James McFadden (Read the FPC match report here).

Despite his relative youth, he celebrated his twenty first birthday in February, Hammy has now made one hundred and thirty appearances for the Mighty ‘Well and he is an established member of Bonhof’s U21 squad.

His tireless patrolling of the left wing and his linking play with Stephen Pearson has made him a Fir Park favourite and we congratulate him on his goal.

Well done Hammy!
