Terry Pitches In

Last updated : 12 February 2004 By Firparkcorner

Terry opened the evening with a ten minute overview of the current campaign. He felt that the club is making progress (though not as much as he would like!) and that MFC is slowly turning the corner and becoming a 'fashionable club'.

Thursday's meeting

His enthusiasm for the club was evident as he ranged through topics like our target for the season (top six), a likely date for coming out of administration (probably a month but certainly before May), likely dates for contract renegotiation (after the split), improved onfield discipline, the progress of injured players, cup expectations, training facilities and so on.

The question and answer session lasted for an hour and the hundred or so Trust members present enjoyed the dialogue with Terry and Chris McCart.

After a short break a discussion took place about the Pitch In proposal.

Alistair Stewart outlined the scheme and explained that two funds would be established. A Share Fund would be used to acquire a stake in the club and to increase the influence of fans in the running of the club. That is one of the core objectives of the Trust. The second fund would be a Project Fund and this would be used to assist the club in gaining specific targets. Examples were listed such as improving the facilities for the disabled, helping with the funding of training facilities, buying a decent PA system and even contributing to the cost of the undersoil heating system.

Members (and non members) would be encouraged to donate funds either by monthly standing order or by a one off payment.

A publicity drive to promote the idea will now be organised. Let’s wish the scheme every success.
