A win v Dunfermline
Two games remain until the first third of the ‘regular’ season is complete. A home fixture against Livingston and a visit to Ibrox will see us having faced each of the other SPL teams. To date we have eleven points and lie in seventh position.

The table below shows how we stand compared to the other campaigns since season 2000/1.

If there are any valid conclusions to draw from this data it would seem that we are just about on course to secure another finish in the top half of the table. The success of the last two seasons was built from a base of fourteen or eighteen points after the first round of games and there is every reason to believe that we can match that in the next few weeks.

It could be significant that we have already passed the totals gathered in the first three seasons of the decade when our final place was well below sixth.

One fact is clear. The goals scored and conceded columns stand at twenty one each at the moment. That’s an average of close to five goals per game.
