The Red Mist Descends

Partridge v Rangers

A bit soft this one. Definitely a rash lunge but if it hadn’t been on Rickson, at Ibrox, would Partridge have escaped. Possibly. There wasn’t any contact but if there had been, Rickson would probably still be in hospital.

Leitch v Thistle

Already booked, Captain Scott lashed out late in the second half. He was caught and we can have no complaints about him marching. The game was already lost by the team he took his lonely walk.

Sengewald, Pearson, Partridge v Hibs

Pearo and Partridge walk

Oh dear. A real nightmare this one and our indiscipline certainly cost us at least one or possibly all three points. We were 1-0 and cruising until Sengewald was sent off for two clear yellows – although some refs may have given him a warning at the second having only just booked him. Paatalinen was left free to roam and we lost 3-1. Pearson and Partridge joined him after a stramash, the ref might have used his discretion but going by the book he was correct.

Fagan v Celtic

Silly boy. Already booked, we were 3-1 down going into the dying minutes when young Shaun does a superman impersonation to punch the ball into the net. A clear and deliberate handball and there was no question a second yellow was deserved.

McFadden v Thistle

This one was downright farcical. Faddy’s reputation had gone before him and he picked up a yellow for an admittedly hard but not malicious foul early on. When Craigen was on the receiving end of a failed block, he was shown his second yellow for his second foul. We have a genuine grievance with this one.

DuBourdeau v Killie

If we go down by a point, we’ll remember this night in January. A 0-0 draw looked certain in one of the worst games ever until Frankie decided he’d taken enough of Dargo kicking him and took justice into his own, er, elbow. He didn’t even bother to disguise it, a deserved red and we lost 1-0 to the resulting penalty.

Pearson v Dons

At the end of a frustrating loss, Pearo lashed out after losing the ball. Technically speaking you could describe his assault as a tackle but there was little doubt about the sending off. It resulted in a four match ban.

Vaughan v Pars

Craig Brewster v Tony Vaughan was one of the slowest foot races I’ve ever seen. Sadly Brewster won and Vaughan had to foul him to get back to tackle. We could possibly argue the ref had played advantage for long enough but no real reason to gripe here either.

Adams v Celtic

Being felt in the backside by Alan Thompson is certainly a provocation but Del should have known better than to elbow him. Right in front of the linesman. The connection wasn’t the best but Thompson’s no mug and collapsed. Regardless of the impact, the intent was there and more points were flushed down the toilet.

So, there you have it. Eleven reds and we only really complain about one of them. Our indiscipline is simply another thing to remember this awful season by – who would bet more won’t walk in the remaining two games?
