The Waiting is Over, Faddy's Gone

All the Best!
Well fans spend and anxious day listening to news bulletins, scanning teletext and searching key web sites hoping against hope that the extended 5pm deadline would pass with no news of a McFadden transfer. But late on Monday afternoon came the news we were dreading.

Everton made an improved offer and Motherwell accepted the terms. Reaction from the fans was mixed. On the one hand there is a realisation that our current financial plight can only be helped by such an influx of funds and on the other there is a sense of loss as we send the most promising youngster to grace Fir Park in years on his way to fame and fortune.

Some comments from the FirParkCorner message board give a glimpse of the fans thoughts, “I've never been so gutted to see a player leave Motherwell.”, “With Faddy gone then John Boyle must move NOW to bring the club out of administration.” And “Thank you for the memories that will live with all Well fans forever”

A ‘Well spokesman said , “It was difficult to let him go, but it was an offer we couldn’t refuse. There are various elements to the payment.” He added that Faddy did not hand in a transfer request. Terry Butcher was quoted (last evening!) saying that the English Premiership was the best place for him to play.

He takes nothing but our best wishes with him and we will follow his career with interest.

Have a look at the McFadden Appreciation Thread on the board.
