The Window Closes on Sunday

The SFA are keeping their offices open late on Sunday. Let’s hope that they have no reason to process registrations from Motherwell to other clubs. ‘Well fans have had to endure a long close season with fresh stories in the press every other week about Pearson or McFadden.

One worry about a late move for a player is that the manager has, at this stage, little time available to secure the services of a replacement. No doubt TB has a wee black book containing a list of likely lads who could fill any gap but as the deadline draws nearer the task gets harder.

Some of the tales had some basis in fact but most were off the mark. The unsettling effect of these rumours on the squad is uncertain but they could not have benefited the morale in the dressing room.

A period of stability (September to December) will be welcome though the rumour mill ahead of the winter window will probably start in the autumn. After the bright and confident showing on Saturday the Motherwell faithful are hoping that the season has taken a turn for the better, let's hope it continues on Saturday!
