Three on International Duties

Clarkson and Kinniburgh have been in Spain for the week preparing for Thursday’s U21 game against Spain. No doubt they will have time to catch up with Faddy as he sets his sights on the World Cup qualifier next week. Our pair have earned their call ups with consistent performances over the last year.

Internation defenders on show

They will return to Scotland for the U21 game against Slovenia. This game takes place at McDiarmid Park in Perth on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile Stephen Craigan will be picking up caps number ten and eleven as Northern Ireland play Poland on Saturday at Windsor Park before crossing the Irish Sea to play Wales in the WC qualifier. He’ll be able to keep Stuart Elliott updated on the latest happenings at Fir Park.

Terry Butcher has expressed some concern in this week’s local press at the toll these double international games can have on the players’ stamina. He argued that our game against Dunfermline should be pushed back for at least twenty four hours to allow proper recovery time. He said, “It’s not enough time to get back into the club way of things, and travel time can really drain you. I would like games to be postponed the Saturday after an international double-header and played on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. Even the Sunday would make a big difference.”

Good luck to all our guys on duty this weekend.
