Two leave and two prolong their stay at Fir Park

Stevem McGarry

Steven McGarry joined the club in 2006 and appeared in claret and amber on almost 100 occasions. The midfielder is off to Australia for talks with A-League side Perth Glory. Fans who were at the opening game of season 2007/8 will remember one of his rare goals. We were playing St Mirren in Paisley and he finished off a blistering move to score inside two minutes. It proved to be the winner. His appearances this season were limited to three and it became clear that the thirty year old would have to seek opportunities elsewhere if he was to secure first team football. Good luck to him.

Yassin Moutouakil has finished his loan spell and returned to Charlton. He was one of Jim Gannon's additions and became a regular in the right back position. His first appearance was in the Matt Busby tTrophy game against a young Manchester United team. His tendency to move to advance positions was evident then and it became a trademark of his style with Motherwell. Unfortunately he was occasionally posted missing when defensive duties called. He goes back to London with 15 first team appearances to his credit and our number two shirt is now unclaimed.

The best news to come from Fir Park on the weekend when plumbing failures caused the postponement of the game against Hamilton was that the club has come to an agreement with Everton to extend the loans of Lukas Jutkiewicz and John Ruddy. We have secured the pair for only an extra month but crucially, it extends the time the club has to seal the deals for a longer spell. Our general manager is quoted on the official site saying, "It's now a case of thrashing out a deal with Everton that works for both parties".

The transfer window extends into the beginning of February and there is certain to be more activity regardless of which management team is in place.
