James McFadden is already assured of his place in the final squad for the friendly at East End Park, Dunfermline on Tuesday 20 August. He was tipped to be in the big squad on this occasion but there is a feeling among ‘Well fans that the young Faddy will benefit from a delay to his appearance in the international spotlight. A good, solid season at Fir Park will allow him to make good his progress in his footballing apprenticeship.

There is a possibility that two of his team mates could join him at Dunfermline next week. Stephen Pearson and Steven Hammell are under consideration for the remaining places in the final squad and they will participate in a couple of training sessions with other young hopefuls.

Regulars at Fir Park will not be surprised at the promotion of some of our up and coming players. There progress over the last season has been impressive and the financial turmoil at the club over the summer has placed a great deal of responsibility on their shoulders.

Faddy
The experience they gain through working with the national coaching squad will show itself in their performances in Claret and Amber. They will have their confidence boosted as a result of their involvement.

Good luck to them all – and we can look forward to a few national caps returning to Fir Park (assuming we can afford to keep them for a few years!).
