James will be packing his bags straight after the Dundee game on Sunday as the Scottish party departs for Korea the next day. The team will play three matches: Korea v Scotland 16 May, South Africa v Scotland 20 May and Hong Kong League XI v Scotland 23 May.

James McFadden
Young Player of the Month - January 2002

He is one of six newcomers in the squad and it looks like his performance in the recent B squad match against Dundee United impressed the new national coach, Berti Vogts.

McFadden burst on to the back pages during a great mid winter spell for the Mighty ‘Well. He scored five for us in January and was made Young Player of the Month. He is currently our joint top scored with ten goals and he grabbed a late equaliser against Chievo in the midweek friendly.

The nineteen year old was delighted at the news he said,  "I've got a lot of people to thank at Motherwell for the start they've given me.

Billy Davies introduced me to first-team football and Eric Black gave me the chance of an extended run in the team.

He stuck by me and has been a massive influence, as has Terry Butcher, who is now my manager and who is helping me all the time.

I've got a lot of people to thank at Motherwell for the start they've given me."

‘Well fans will give him a special cheer at the Dundee game on Sunday!
