Supporters, at the meeting held in June to form the Motherwell Supporters’ Trust, decided to spend some of the money raised after the club moved into interim administration.

At Fir Park this morning the Trust steering group handed over a set of strips for the U15/16s as part of the sponsorship for that youth team and a pair of hydraulic physiotherapy benches to assist in keeping the players in tip top condition.

John Porteous was delighted to receive the benches and the fans felt it fitting that his back room staff received some recognition for their efforts with the players.

The smiles on the faces of Terry Butcher and Chris McCart make it clear that they believe the future of the club lies in the development of young players and they were happy to receive the sponsorship of the 15/16s.

Today's donation to the club amounts to an investment of around three thousand pounds in the future of the Mighty 'Well.

There will be a public hand over of the strips at the interval during the next home game (v Hibs on Saturday) when fans will be encouraged to join the Supporters’ Trust and further strengthen the bond with the club’s management.

The Trust hopes to be in a position to influence the direction of the club when the next owner is known and to bring the voice of the fans to the new board. Application forms will be available at the Hibs game and a years’ membership cost a very reasonable ten pounds.
