Young Azzuri Come To Fir Park

Last updated : 31 August 2005 By Firparkcorner

Fir Park was last used for a similar fixture in the qualifying for Euro 2000. On that occasion a crowd of around 3000 or so watched the Czech Republic sneak a one goal win over the young Scots.

The Italian U21 side will no doubt have some wonderful young talent in it – and a share of cynical, hard hatchet men as well – and the entertainment on show could liven up your Friday night.

The Azzuri ‘big team’ will also be using
Fir Park as their training base in between their matches with Scotland and Belarus. This means that players of the calibre of Nesta and Totti will be gracing our hallowed turf!

Local fans will be keen to see some of the Motherwell youngsters get a chance against the Italians. Clarkson, Kinniburgh and Quinn are all in the squad.

The entry price on Friday is only £5 for adults and £2.50 concessions. Beats a night in front of Corrie…
