Prediction v Dundee United (h)

It is too early to start to ponder on the consequences of relegation. There will be enough time for that if and when it happens. At the moment all efforts have got to be directed towards getting a win and halting the slide. We can’t bring any new players in so the current squad have to take responsibility for getting some wins under our belts. There is no point in changing the management team even if there was a general call to do so because firstly, who would want the job, and secondly, could they do anything different with the same squad of players?

On the subject of players everyone will be hoping that McFadden returns after injury. Is he good enough to turn the season around? Can he influence games to such an extent that possible defeats are turned into victories? All will become clear in the next few weeks and I suspect that by the time the Transfer Window opens we will have a clearer idea of what fate has in store for us.

With regards to Saturday our opponents have a similar record when it comes to league wins this season ie. two. They certainly do not seem to have a potent strike force having scored fewer goals than Motherwell in the league campaign so far. However it is difficult to see us keeping a clean sheet whoever we play at the moment so it’s going to be a bit of a nail biter. I’ll go for a share of the points and a repeat of the result at Tannadice earlier this season.
