Prediction v Hibs (a)

Last updated : 20 November 2002 By Phil Swainston

Saturdays at about 4.45pm are now becoming regularly depressing. I am trying everything to help. I have stopped drinking my coffee out of my Motherwell Mug. I have re-positioned Callum’s Motherwell scarf in his bedroom. I have tried to stop checking the score every 5 minutes on Sky, leaving it to a more respectable 20 or 25 minutes. Nothing however seems to help.

Perhaps Martin O’Neil put an old Irish curse on us as he left Fir Park with his tail between his legs on September 10th. For some reason the fighting spirit, passion and determination shown on that night has not been repeated for a sustained period of time. Why that should be is anybody’s guess but we need to get that spirit back quickly if we are to stay in touch with Patrick Thistle and the rest.

Our run of easy games is now over (!) and the Hibs fixture signals a run of some more daunting games where points are going to be difficult to come by. We will have done well if we can still be just three points behind Thistle at the end of this four game run.

The injury situation does not look like it will improve much for this game so it will be up to basically the same eleven from last week to pull something out the bag and surprise us all. We turned Hibs season around earlier in the term, perhaps they can repay the compliment on Saturday and generously let us leave Edinburgh with a point.

Unfortunately I just can’t see that happening.

Hibernian 3 - 1 Motherwell

Have look at the Head to Head stats with Hibs.
