Killin' Me

I don’t know about you but this time last month I was absolutely elated. We’d just comfortably dispatched Livi two-nil at home and I envisaged a similar outcome against ICT taking our unbeaten run to seven games, setting us up nicely for a trip to Ibrox to face a Rangers side who were still smarting from yet another UEFA cup defeat. Oh how good it would have been to add to big Eck’s woes.

Alas it was not to be a home defeat to ICT and a four - one drubbing at castle grayskull was followed by a goaless draw against Aberdeen and back to back defeats at Killie making it five games without a win for the mighty ‘Well. And that’s not to mention a trip toParkhead at the weekend.

All that the last three and a half weeks have served to do is to remind us exactly what being a ‘well fan is all about, making us once again question our sanity as to why we actually put ourselves through it.

However all is not doom and gloom, for how often have we said that it is typical of the ‘Well to build us up only for them to bring us crashing back down. Indeed look to season so far – after loosing our first two games we then went on an eight game unbeaten run only for that to be cut short by a home defeat to Rangers. We then suffered a further four straight losses before going on the afore mentioned run of six straight wins only for that to be ended yet again by Glasgow Rangers (see a pattern emerging here).

Saturdays defeat at Killie was our fifth game without a win and after Saturday it’s likely to be six, which would set us up nicely for a winning streak encompassing crucial games in the push for a UEFA cup slot (Hibs at home after Celtic) and the league cup semi. Incidentally we are at home to Rangers in nine games time, and I can’t be the only one who would relish coming off the back of a nine game unbeaten run to face the Gers live on Setanta in a dress rehearsal for the cup final.

We get knocked down but we get up again! (That would make a good song that would)
