Mike's Moan: Bring On The Celtic

Last updated : 26 October 2007 By Mike

I think the defeat must be a much needed reality check for a lot of Hibs supporters, as although they play nice football and have some good players, they are no better than many of the teams in the SPL.

Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Kilmarnock and ourselves are all quite closely matched and all will take points off each other this season. Hibs had a great start to the season, but as long as they have run-of-the-mill players in their team such as the overrated Chris Hogg and Brian Kerr they will never break out of the chasing pack.

Though we played well on Saturday, we did not reach the heights of our performance at Easter Road. The front three worked well again, although nothing came off for Porter and Clarkie had another off day in front of goal. McCormack was superb, full of pace and movement, and scored two belting goals. I can only see him getting better and better as the season goes on, so I have my fingers crossed Mr McGhee gets him signed up as soon as possible.

Next up we visit the green side of Glasgow and I have no doubt that we will go out and attack Celtic with our 4-3-3 formation. I can't see us making any changes to the team, so Uncle Phil will again have to be content with a place on the bench.

Celtic have shown that they are vulnerable and they are conceding a lot of goals. Both full back positions are weaknesses for the Bhoys, so if we can get our front three to work in tandem and give us width we certainly have nothing to fear at Parkhead.

Of course Skippy will score his obligatory goal against us (I have been surprised Kerr hasn't fluked one in against us yet) but we have the capability to get a few goals in every game. We need to take our chances (easier said than done) and need our defence to be strong, but we definitely have a chance.

Lets go out and attack, get in Celtic's faces, and show that we are a match for anyone.

'Mon the 'WELL!!!
