Mike's Moan: Isn't Rain a Feckin Pain?

By their standards Aberdeen are having a good season, they are riding high in the league and are a difficult team to beat. However, they are still a poor side with a weak attack and a terrible goalkeeper. In my eyes they have two good players: Russell Anderson and Scott Severin. The rest are workmanlike at best, and it is my bold prediction that they are about to drop like a stone and will be lucky to hold onto 5th place in the league.

The worst thing about Aberdeen is their deluded supporters, who actually think they are still in the early 1980s and that their team is actually capable of challenging the Old Firm. For any Aberdeen fans who may read this here is a wee reality check - YOUR TEAM IS MEDIOCRE, YOU ARE A SMALL CLUB AND YOU HAVE TO SELL YOUR BEST PLAYERS LIKE EVERY OTHER NON-OLD FIRM CLUB IN THE SPL.

All this nonsense the idiots from the north dream up about us not postponing last Saturday's game was incredible and can only be compared to an Old Firm club thinking they can bully the other teams in the league because they believe they have the divine right to make up all the rules. Aberdeen chose to play their cup replay on the Thursday because of the money, they knew it did not give us a lot of time to rearrange the game but thought we should just kiss goodbye to 30k because they stamped their feet claiming it was unfair. Get a Grip.

Was the SPL going to intervene to stop this great miscarriage of justice? - no. Why I hear all the paid up members of the Red and White Army cry? The simple answer is the dandy Dons brought it on themselves, realised what they had done and just expected us to roll over. Well I say well done Motherwell for telling them to stick their demands up their manager's orange backside and I only hope we can have a ‘good day at the office' when we face them in the rearranged fixture.

However, it's all well and good having a go at Dons but we cannot escape the fact that last Saturday was one almighty cock-up. The good old Fir Park drainage system came to Aberdeen's rescue and embarrassed everyone connected with Motherwell. Only the Mighty ‘Well could take a stance and then see it blow up in their face because our facilities are not up to scratch. It was the ideal time to play them after their gubbing by Hibs, but the weather was so bad the game had to be called off along with the matches at East Stirling and Dumbarton. By some miracle the matches at Hamilton and Albion Rovers went ahead, but the rain in Motherwell was so severe the ‘big club' in Lanarkshire had to postpone.

Is this a worry? The only answer is yes and it is another example of incompetence. Was our pitch not just relaid? Surely the drainage had to be looked at then as Fir Park has more call offs than Old Firm players on international duty. And if it was, why is it the same old story ???

Let's just pray for a game this Saturday, although with our record at Easter Road, maybe a wee shopping trip isn't that bad a prospect.
