Mike's Moan: It's All so Quiet

The doomed takeover has, rightly or wrongly, definitely taken away any optimism that a lot of us had for next season. Boyle won't sack Malpas, won't release anymore money but will still pretend he has the best interests of the club at heart. Well, it's time for a reality check: a manager who slags off his own fans is not worth having, especially one who incapable of inspiring, who is a media joke, and who has no idea how to identify decent signing targets.

That's the rant over - we are stuck with Maurice and his loser sidekick Hegarty, so it's time to make the most of it. By the time next season comes around, we might have signed four or five half decent players and the whole feeling around the club might change.

Malpas might be in the papers none stop over the next two months smiling beside his new signings of Craig Dargo, John Sutton, Graham Dorrans, Jim O'Brien, Stephen Glass, Darren Young, Patrick Cregg… ok, he wont be smiling he will be standing beside them looking dour… but it could happen???

We urgently need new players in to lift the doom and gloom surrounding the club, as if it continues into July we might not be able to get away from it before it's too late. Let's look at the positives. Our defence is looking in pretty good shape for next season barring injuries. A rejuvenated Graham Smith in goal, with a back four of a fully fit Corrigan(RB), Reynolds(LB), Craigan(CB) and Mclean(CB) is pretty decent by our standards and should give us a half decent platform to perform. Lasley back in midfield will be like a new signing and if we can keep Vadocz I think they could form a relatively effective centre midfield partnership. Danny Murphy also deserves a chance down the left flank, as he looks a lot better going forward than defending.

Up front we have Rossco who looked great in the last few games of the season. As soon as Skippy dropped out of theteam Ross really looked to take on more responsibility and I am confident if he stays fit he will score us goals next year. But this is where the good news ends. In my opinion no other player at the club is currently good enough to start for the first team - Paterson, Clarkson, Fitz, Keegan, Molloy are at best squad players and some are not even at that standard.

Malpas needs to change the fans' opinions, so he needs to sign players who will excite - is he capable of this... I'm not sure. However, even if he does manage to get a few in, if we go behind on the first day of next season there will again be a clamber for his head. Let's hope I'm wrong but in my humble opinion this is a marriage which can only end in disaster!!!

'Mon the 'Well!!! It's time to support Malpas… we have no other choice!
