Mike's Moan: There's Only One Danny Murphy

I agree with the manager's formation on Saturday as we could not let Hibs overrun us again like they did at Fir Park earlier in the season. However, I was a little disappointed that we did not manage to get forward more with our threat almost disappearing after Darren Smith went off at half time.

With a little more belief I think we could have at least taken a point from this game, as other teams have proven in the past if you take the lead against Hibs they quite often fold.

The best thing about the game, however, was the performance of Danny Murphy, who had Sproule in his back pocket for most of the game. He hardly gave him a sniff the whole match, and it was no surprise when Collins moved the Irishman to the other flank midway through the second half. Unfortunately this proved to be our downfall, as Sproule created both goals from the left. But Murphy showed pace, good tackling and composure - and is already a hit in my book.

Our big problem is still in midfield, and the clock is ticking as we desperately need another central midfield player in before the end of the transfer window. The simple facts are neither Mark Fitz(don't give me the ball im scared)patrick or Kevin Mcslow are currently good enough, and Maguire (sorry McGarry) cannot play in that position. I know Malpas has said he is trying to get someone in, but by the sounds of it he is not trying hard enough. Stephen Glass would have been perfect, but Dunfermline got him, Rocco Quinn, now at Killie... need I go on?

I know I have said this before, and others have disagreed because we have signed three players in this transfer window, but I am still calling for Malpas to get off his ass and sign a central midfield player before the end of the month - that gives him a day!

And please don't let anyone say we only want to sign someone if he's going to improve our squad, as any central midfielder would be an improvement on what we have at the moment.

One last thing, is Keegan as bad as he looks? By my reckoning he cannot be up to much as MM has played him for ten minutes since we signed him, and even when we went behind on Saturday there was no inkling that he could come on and help us back into the match. Worrying…. Very worrying.
