Poor 'Well fail to appear in Inverness

Kenny Black invested our hopes in the same eleven that took three points in our last outing but he was to be disappointed at the woeful showing from his charges.  Had Inverness taken their chances the score would have been far worse than the 3-1 scoreline at full time.

The home side took control from the off and all the action of any note took place in our half.  Any moments of possession we had were squandered by slack passing or half- hearted tackling.  Lasley fought hard to break up ICT threats but there was no such urgency from his team-mates.

It was no surprise when we lost the opener in 29 minutes.  McKay raced through our static back line and took his chance to roll the ball beyond Twardzik.  No one iside the ground could have forecast what was to unfold in the following minute.  We managed to get the ball inside the Inverness box for the first time in the match and Sutton cut the ball back to an unmarked Ojamaa.  The ball was dispatched into the net for an unexpected equaliser.  We had been handed a second life.

Before we were able to regroup at half time Twardzik had to produce a full length flying save to keep a fine effort from Christie from giving our hosts a deserved lead at the interval.

The vociferous ‘Well support started the second period better than the team.  In 47 minutes McKay was presented with a second golden opportunity.  He rounded the ‘keeper but from the corner of the six yard box he blasted over the top to let us off the hook.

Before the hour Law was sent on to replace the ineffective Ainsworth but the flow of the game was unchanged.  ICT continued to make half chances that were spurned while we produced nothing up front.

Watkins scored their second with 20 minutes remaining.  He got his head to a routine cross into the box and beat Twardzik on his left.  Erwin then replaced Ramsden but before he had time to warm up Meekings scored a third when he won the race at the far post to a corner kick.

There was no hint of a miraculous fightback, instead there was the awful feeling that the spirited performance seen at Fir Park a fortnight ago was a flash in the pan.  Normal service has been resumed.
