Two points dropped against ten men

A spirited first half contained an fine goal from Obadeyi, slightly against the run of play but McDonald equalised with a perfect free kick with seconds of the half remaining.

The ground staff worked wonders to allow the game to pass a morning inspection but there still remained muddy patches to add to the players’ problems.   As expected we made only one change from the eleven that had beaten Inverness last week and Straker played at left back with Ramsden suspended.

Samson was easily the busier ‘keeper and he had to be wary of a couple of shots from McDonald and a header from Erwin.  The opener came in the 20th minute when the ball was worked out to Obadeyi on Long’s right.  From a tight angle he blasted a shot against the far side net with lots of pace.

Johnson was playing well ad he delivered a cross that Grant headed goal bound.  Samson was at full stretch to tip it over the bar. Such was Johnson’s threat that Westlake was booked twice as the half drew to a close.  He got his marching orders and Skippy lined up to take the free kick on the left side of the box.  He curled the ball into the net for the leveller.

The game had turned.  We now had the prospect of 45 minutes against ten men, surely we would find a way to score?  Alas, no.

We crafted a few half chances, piled corners and crosses into their area but Samson had little to do.

Ainsworth, Sutton and finally Dom Thomas were thrown on but the Kilie defence stuck well to their task.

At least the point has moved us off the bottom but the game must be marked down as two points thrown away.
