FirParkCorner 1-3 KaisAyr

Ra ‘Corner started with Smikes at left-back after making his long-awaited return, and Davie Wyper, a new signing, amongst the substitutes. Unfortunately, it was the veteran Smikes who got the last touch as Ayr took the lead midway through the first half after a “stramash” in the penalty area.

An early FPC attack

FPC rallied but couldn’t penetrate a well-organised backline and felt hard done by to be going in a goal down at the interval. A few changes at half time freshened things up and the now established first choice striking partnership, Joe and Gardiner, was causing the visitors defence so end of problems. But the goal was elusive.

Then Frazzle made an inspired substitution. He introduced Tony to the field of play and, within minutes, he’d scored at both ends! His equalizer was an excellent looping effort from outside the penalty box that the goalkeeper had no chance of getting close to. The fans were just beginning to rate the lad as a bit of a player when an Ayr corner was swung into the near post and he opted to slap the ball beyond Farmer under very little pressure.

Despite this setback, FPC set about levelling the scores once again and attempted to play some nice football. However, it simply wasn’t to be their day and, towards the end of the game, Topper gave away a needless penalty with a schoolboy challenge that the referee did very well to spot. The KaisAyr hitman stepped up and calmy dispatched the ball into the corner of the net to ensure all three points were heading south.

Another of ‘those days’ for Ra Corner as the troops succumbed to two own goals and a penalty to hand the points to the opposition. After the game, the gaffer was down heartened but assured the fans that the best was yet to come. Frazzle said afterwards “I’m down heartened, but I assure the fans that the best is yet to come.”
