The visitors frustrated FPC for a large part of the first half before Dave Hendry’s free kick was deflected past the goalkeeper. It was a fortunate goal, but no more than FPC deserved.

The rest of the action was saved for the second half as Piggy’s words of wisdom inspired the boys to knock in no fewer than NINE goals, each better than the last. Jnr chipped in with another hat-trick, including a brave finish to knock the ball home while colliding with the post. However, it was his final goal that will be remembered as he acrobatically heeled the ball into the corner of the net.

Moyesie claimed a double; one with a header and the other was an impressive sliding finish. Mark also notched a brace with a pair of identical chips from the left. Dave grabbed his second from the penalty spot after Moyesie was fouled by the advancing York keeper, and Mitch completed the rout and capped off a fine individual display, by knocking the ball in from close range after a ‘cross’ from Moyesie.

A very convincing 10-0 victory for FPC, with special mentions for Mitch, Moyesie and Jnr who were all outstanding. However, the feeling in the dressing room after the match was that things must improve if we are to begin our collection of silverware this season. This is surely a measure of how well the team have progressed since the days that we were often on the receiving end of such romps.
