FirParkCorner FC v Arab FC - Preview

Last updated : 18 August 2005 By Speedie

Confidence is high in the Motherwell camp after an excellent start to the season. The opening match of the campaign saw the side record an 11-1 win over an under strength Parcelona. This followed by a 6-1 home victory against Partick Thistle’s ptfc.net on Tuesday evening, the side’s seventh competitive match unbeaten.

However, the United representatives also made a strong start to their campaign against Real Maroon. The Arabs were in the lead for long spells in that match and only a late fight back by the Edinburgh side prevented a shock opening day win for Arab FC. Manager David Fraser is certainly not taking the Arabs lightly and has warned his side against complacency. In the last match between the sides United had notched up a goal lead at half time however a second half fight back by the Corner led to a 5-4 win.

The Corner will be without influential goalkeeper Graeme Farmer due to work commitments. Manager Fraser hopes to bring in an experienced stopper for the match but if his moves prove unsuccessful Ross Mitchell will take Farmer’s place between the sticks. Defender Graeme Ramage, who has had an excellent start to the season, also missed out which could see a return to starting line up for John Hendry. Ross Clark is also missing after a strong performance up front against ptfc.net Elsewhere, the team is at full strength so little change is expected in the side that performed well in the first two matches.
