Galatasarab 3-2 FPC FC

FirParkCorner FC went up to Dundee on Sunday morning to play Dundee Utd’s Internet team, Galatasarab. We were playing on an Astroturf park just across the road from Tannadice Stadium. FPC had 14 players available for the trip and a certain Graeme Farmer who played in goals in the 2nd half.

Not happy with the ref
The game kicked off with both teams going at it, looking to score the first goal. Both teams had a couple of chances but with Galatasarab having a goalkeeper who was about 6ft 6inches and could kick the ball the full length of the park you could see it was going to be a long, hard day.

They made the break through when a ball came across goal. A shot was hit in which Del GK saved but a striker sneaked in to slot it into the near post. FPC had a few chances with the best coming when both Dave H and Jnr hitting a shot but they both just went wide of the target.

FPC’s “mop head” Frazzle could have been done for assault when he clashed heads (or Jaw to Head) with a Galatasarab player. After the game he found out that the guy had a broken jaw. It was a wonder why Frazzle’s hair never cushioned the blow.

FPC searched for the equaliser and got it when Jnr hit a delicate chip and managed to put it over their “midget” keeper. The half finished all square at the break which allowed both teams to re-group and change things round.

Second half started off with Graeme Farmer going in goals, replacing Del GK. Farmer looked confident and it was long till he had a shot to stop when a ‘Gala player struck a shot but it went straight to him. It wasn’t long after the break and they took the lead when a sweetly struck shot beat a fully stretched Farmer and went into the bottom corner.

FPC kept the heads up and another few saved from Graeme Farmer kept us in it. Also great defending from Moonie, Mark and Moysie stopped the opposition from wrapping up the game. Kenzie was holding up the ball well in midfield and was playing good plays for the forwards to move on to.

Due to there not being a referee, there was a stand in. He made a very "dodgy" decision when a ‘Gala forward was about a country mile offside and the referee ignored it and he went on to slot the ball into the net which was met by shouts from FPC for the ref. to get his act together.

Well, the referee done exactly that and about 5 minutes after the “dodgy” incident he awarded a penalty to FPC. Del made the run towards goal and was about 2ft outside the box when he was clipped by the defender and rolled into the box. The referee decided that it was a penalty. The cynical among the FPC players rated the dive as 10.0. Mark stepped up and rocketed the ball into the goalkeepers left hand side. 3-2 to the home side.

FPC had a couple of attacks but could not get the equaliser that they so badly wanted. In the end FPC felt they had done enough to get a draw but “Hey, That’s football”.

Man of the Match was voted by the other team and was awarded to a John “Jnr” Barclay for his efforts running up and down the right hand side. Even though he was awarded MOM ever player in the team put in a good effort.

Well FPC’s next match is against Erin Hibs next Saturday at Hamilton Palace. Let’s hope they can secure their first win of the season.
