Geordie Murovers against FPC

FPC continued their winning run with a remarkable 9-1 victory over their Raith Rovers counterparts in Kirkcaldy on Saturday morning. The Worldnet preparations were boosted by a marvellous all-round team performance and the lads are in a boyant mood for the journey south on July 15.

It was a largely understrength squad that travelled to the Kingdom of Fife for this encounter as international duty claimed Miller, Hepworth, Speedie and Boyd, while Mitchell performed family commitments and Josy Lynas was refused a work permit. The managers plans were further thrown into disarray as Anderson failed a late fitness test on the day of the game so the mood was far from confident as FPC took to the field to face the unknown quantity that is Geordie Munrovers.

After an even start, FPC rattled the home side with two goals inside a minute, with Dave Hendry and Ross Galloway getting their names on the scoresheet after two brilliant assists from Mark Gardiner.

The lead was soon streched further as Gardiner deservedly got his own name on the scoresheet after a nice turn and finish in the box. Barry Lynas, who was lively throughout the match, soon added his name to the list as he capitalised on a slack backpass to convert a simple chance.

Ra Corner couldn't believe their luck, finding themselves four goals to the good inside the first half hour, and it soon got even better. The fifth goal summed up the home sides day as a John Hendry throw-in was bulletted home via the head of a defender under pressure from Galloway.

FPC made it six shortly before the interval, with Gardiner sending Lynas clear with a perfectly weighted pass, for the nippy striker to slot the ball into the corner of the net, Having a six goal advantage at half time made Frasers team talk a surreal and, for once, pleasant experience.

The second half started slower, with Rovers starting to come into the game, but their misery was soon compounded as a quick FPC breakaway led to Gardiner putting the finishing touch on a great move involving Dave Hendry and Barry Lynas.

Moments later it was eight. Captain fantastic Dave Hendry supplied the perfect cross for Lynas to simply nod home.

The home side continued to rally, and their efforts were rewarded with a consolation goal after a lapse in concentration allowed a striker to nip in and beat the keeper with a tidy finish.

But the day belonged to The Corner. Lynas added number nine with his fourth of the match after more excellent linking play between himself, Gardiner and Dave Hendry. Lynas is proving an excellent addition to the squad and played a blinder throughout in the absence of his brother and Fraser could be looking to sign him up on a long-term deal.

That's three wins on the trot for Ra Corner and they'll be going down to Worldnet in high spirits and with great expectations. A good weekend is expected to be had by all and hopefully there'll be some football played aswell! Moan Ra Corner.
