St Mirrenoff 2 FirParkCorner FC 2

FPC made the better start but St Mirrenoff created the first chance. After some nice passing, a striker was through on Farmer but dragged his shot wide.

Chances finally fell the way of FPC and the bar twice came to St Mirrenoff’s rescue when Del sclaffed a cross over the ‘keeper and Junior came within inches of opening the scoring with a header.

Dave Hendry was busy up front and could have had a hat-trick but for three excellent saves from the St Mirrenoff ‘keeper. FPC finally took the lead though and it came after a wonderful move. Mooch turned his man from a throw in, Del then flicked the ball through to Dave who outpaced his man before drilling in a low cross. Jammy flew in at the back post to finish a great goal.

Sadly the lead only last a few minutes. A free kick looked harmless enough before Frazzle’s defensive header landed on the foot of a striker who bundled past Farmer.

The first half finished 1-1 and probably wasn’t a fair reflection of how the chances had fallen.

St Mirrenoff were much more determined after the break and pinned FPC back in their half for most the game. However, chances were rare although Moonie did have to make a couple of saving tackles. It only takes one slip to lose a goal though and St Mirrenoff took the lead with twenty minutes to go. Dave Hendry had cleared a header off the line but when the ball was returned into the box, a neat turn released the striker who fired home with a low shot.

FPC made have let their heads drop but instead equalised immediately. A questionable handball was punished with a free kick and Dave brilliantly curled his shot into the postage stamp corner.

The rest of the game was hard fought but nothing was created and by the full time whistle, both teams would be happy with their efforts.
