Players we love to hate

We all have our favourite players but for every hero there's a villain.So here’s my who’s who of ten players we love to hate;

1 )Barry Ferguson

The doyen of old firm neds, Ferguson became slightly less hated when he left for deepest Lancashire. I’d even go as far as to say that had he excelled in the Premiership, some may have felt a slight twinge of pride at the sight of the Scotland captain performing well down south. However once Bazza arrived back “hame” in Glasgow lamenting about how he made a mistake and his time away has improved him as a player and he is back where he belongs blah blah blah, he once again became the reviled little naff that he always was.

2 )Peter Grant

St. Peter was one of a long line of mediocre Celtic players, which had the media falling over themselves to get into the national side. He did give us one moment of undeniable happiness when Psycho did what the rest of us were dying to do and put the unofficially ordained Grant on his arse.Never has violence against another human being been so widely commended.

3 & 4 )Henry Smith & Dave Macpherson

Could any two players have been more affected by rule change than these two ?The back pass rule forced Smith and Macpherson to rethink their entire defensive plan. The boring twosome did their utmost to slow down the game with their constant time- wasting. The fact that they both seemed to gain so much satisfaction from doing so made it all the worse.

5 )Mike Galloway

Coming from the same Peter Grant " I really am shite but the media say I’m good " school.Galloway had to be included on this list if only because I don’t think football fans have ever expressed their collective disdain for a player quite as clearly as choruses of" ...shitey shitey Galloway ... " rang out from stands across Scotland.

6 )Neil Lennon

Quickly made the transition from bleached blond, honest hard - working grafter whilst at Leicester to ginger, just the sight of his face makes you want to punch him, shit - stirring git at Celtic.Lennon, who has that knack for getting under your skin, seems to wallow in his role as the most hated player in Scottish football.Truly one of those players that you’d love to mark for just five minutes.

7 )Chris Sutton

If points were awarded for moaning, Sutton would have long outstripped Larsson as Celtic’s beloved son.Sutton can frequently be found steaming up the length of the pitch to bemoan the referee into giving him a free kick,or whatever other injustice has befallen his hard done by comrades.

8 )Willie Miller

Not to be confused with his namesake the former Scotland international turned Aberdeen director of football, Miller will always be remembered as the guy who kicked the much-loved Colin O’Neil off the park and got away with it.O’Neil was never the same player and Miller remained hated for years to come.

9 )Jim Jeffries

Ok,so his playing days are long gone but I had to find a place for the gapped toothed moaner. His frequent bleating about being hard done by wouldn’t be half as hard to take if it weren’t for the fact that his teams are amongst the dullest in the land.

10 )Craig Bellamy

The loud-mouthed Welshman has just arrived at Parkhead but in the same vain as Sutton and Lennon he is sure to become another exponent of old firm tosh. And how long do you think it will be before stories emerge of Bellamy’s Saturday night run-ins around the pubs and clubs of Glasgow.
