GLF 68: Christopher poses some interesting questions.

Can we finish this stunning

season the way we started ??

We began this topsy-turvy campaign by securing nine points out of our first five fixtures - what would we give to finish 2007/2008 with similar success??

Of course it would be a heck of a lot easier if we still had to face St Mirren, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Gretna and Hearts with a fresh squad on a grass-covered pitch rather than Celtic, Rangers (twice), Aberdeen and Hibs with a battle-weary squad on a poor excuse for a top-level surface but in order to ensure we head into the summer with a tangible reward rather than mere platitudes and back-slapping, can we turn back the clock eight months and turn in a couple of shows similar to those from the second half of last year that would surely see us compete in the UEFA Cupnext term, or will we simply have to scrap our way across the finishing line???

The Final Push

Can Buzz turn in his shot-stopping shut-outs rather than his cross-flapping bungles? Will Crago net one at the other end to balance out the oggies? Can Captain Coach ignore his pain and push forward to supply some more telling crosses? Will the old Stevie Hammell please step forward? Can Stephen Hughes make us tick the way he can on such a shoddy surface as Fir Park? Bob Malcom - discuss? Has Simon Lappin got another 'Parkhead' in him?Can Chris Porter provide a final flourish and deliver twenty goals? Will Ross McCormack decide to use our almost constant appearances on Setanta just now to enhance his Premiership potential? Can Clarky provide the fairytale finish we all desperately want him to in such a bitter-sweet season? Can Darren Smith/Steve McGarry/Jamie Murphy/Keith Lasley step off the bench and stamp his name on our season? Can Mark McGhee send out the formation and tactics to deservedly finish what he has started?

Many Questions,One Answer

As you read this there will only be nine points left to play for and almost certainly our final denouement will still be in the balance.Whatever happens, season 2007/2008 must go down in the annals as one of the most unforgettable campaigns of our lifetime with the style of football we have been privileged to enjoy a sheer delight.Of course the ying of this excitement was the yang of our lost leader which the hours of three to seven o'clock on December 29th tragically sum up.So please remember whatever the final placing, when the whistle blows at Easter Road it been a season more than any other where we should all be mightily proud to be part of the Motherwell family.

That's it for another season from GLF - thanks for the support and see you soon!!
