Motherwell's attempt to overcome the one goal defeat in the first leg fell well short with a dismal display in Sligo.
The loss of an early goal in the Irish sunshine damped the enthusiasm of the 500 fans who made the journey to the Showgrounds and a late goal produced a 3-0 aggregate loss. Graham Alexander parted company with the club four days later.
