A first Ne'erday visit from St Johnstone

The Perth Saints recorded a fine win over Dundee United in their last outing with Stevie May rightly earning glowing headlines for his hat trick.  That game might indicate a change in fortunes for a side that has struggled in recent league fixtures.  Following a productive spell in October and early November they produced a LLDLW pattern that has them clinging to sixth place by a point from Hibs.

Paddy Cregg will be missing from their midfield following an unsuccessful red card appeal but there will be plenty of goal threats to counter.  May, Craig and Hasslbaink (x2) have all scored against us in the two most recent meetings - both in Perth and both 2-0 losses.  The Saints were last at Fir Park almost a year ago when a Higdon hat trick led the way for a 3-2 win.

Hutchinson will return to the centre of defence having served his one match suspension but there will be some uncertainty about the rest.  Stuart McCall reported that most of the team were using ice packs after the game in Maryhill as the toll of the busy festive period takes its toll on our small squad.

Anier limped off, Ramsden took a knock, Kerr missed out following a hamstring tweak and at times McManus looked as though his ankle was causing discomfort.  McCall has had to use a variety of formations and personnel in recent weeks and we could be in for another surprise on Wednesday.

The fact remains we are on a four game winning streak and a decent home record while the table shows our opponents have struggled on the road with only one away win. Can we make it five in a row was we enter 2014?   Yes we can, 2-1.
