A 'Well seeded rest

The club has taken advantage of a quirk in the schedule that has resulted in a period of almost five weeks without a home game and reseeded the pitch.  As the month began seed and fertiliser were spread over the surface and the expectation is that when Aberdeen visit on 2 April we’ll see a significant improvement.

Despite the crisp early spring weather there is a confidence that a mixture of occasional use of germination covers, light use of undersoil heating together with some sunshine, fresh air and water should produce a coveing of grass far in excess of the miserable 30% that has survived the rigours of the winter.

Seeds!

An examination of the surface reveals that it remains perfectly playable though far from pretty.  It is firm, smooth, and much better that it was a year ago when it was littered with dry, crumbling divots.  Unfortunately it is embarrassingly short of grass.
