There's no escaping that we shot ourselves in the foot in the second half at Pittodrie.  A decent effort in the opening period meant that we held the lead at the break but 'Well fans knew that there remained plenty of time for Aberdeen to recover.  In fact we had gifted them the lead within seven minutes of the restart.

The pair of goals conceded masked the fact that for most of the game we had restricted Aberdeen's  scoring chances.  But careless defending cost us the game and that weakness remains as one of the areas where we need to improve.  In 15 away games we have conceded 35 goals, a record that is by some stretch the poorest in the league.  Just as well we have a home fixture next!

The early game meant that our rivals had the chance to leave us adrift at the bottom of the table.  That meant an nervous afternoon following the exploits of St Mirren and Ross County.  It came as a bit of a shock to be a supporter of both Hamilton and Kilmarnock for the a couple of hours.  Killie delivered a late bonus with a late winner and only a slip up from Accies spoiled the day.

The second of the pair of Friday night games comes with the arrival of our neighbours from the other side of the Clyde.  Most fans will give a thumbs up to the notion of a game under the lights between teams that are within easily travelling distance.  Motherwell and Aberdeen involves a 300 mile round trip whereas the Hamilton/Motherwell jaunt falls within walking distance.  Some day the powers that rule our game will concentrate on attracting fans to grounds rather than building a TV audience.
