It was a hard earned point and almost guarantees our top six qualification.

Those tasked with producing video highlights of the game will have a tough job.  A few frantic scrambles and plenty of shots off target will make up the bulk of the edit but ‘Well fans will dwell on the couple of incidents late in the game that might have produced an unlikely victory.  First there was the breakaway that offered Law a chance to beat Langfield then the penalty claim that resulted when Francis-Angol’s run in on goal was halted.

Welcome to Pittodrie

The upshot was that we have had two wins and a draw in the last three outings, a return that keeps us on track for the runners up spot. Further, the near certainty of our top six finish will give the board some reassurance that they can make some sensible assumptions about the playing budget for next season.

Surely that knowledge will convince the manager to complete his contract extension and let us get on with the job of convincing a few key players that their careers would be best served with a few more years at Fir Park.?

We have a Friday night game to entertain us next when Hibs come to town.  The Easter Road outfit have not played us on a Saturday at Fir Park for more than two years.  The last three games have taken place on a Friday, Wednesday and Tuesday with each game under the soft glare of our floodlights.  An international break follows this fixture before we face Dundee (a) and St Mirren (h) to reach the split.

Have your say on the messageboard.
