Aberdeen -- 24h on

The manager argued that the effort in recent months had taken its toll.  We should “forgive and forget” this one.  It was far from our finest day.  Aberdeen were quick to react and more of a threat.  Although we had plenty of possession we lacked any incisiveness in attack.  We were well beaten.

The day at Pittodrie started with the usual friendly welcome.  All visiting fans were met by a cordon of police and stewards and patted down before gaining access to the turnstiles.  Throughout the game away fans were closely monitored but there were no incidents.

Lasley takes the long walk

The early loss of the first goal set the tone for the game.  McGhee felt that Laing deserved game time and pitched him in at right back.  The decision looked suspect and the penalty award confirmed the doubt despite the game being only five minutes old.  It was not a surprise to see Hall replace him as the second half got underway.

Pearson looked like a player who had just returned after a six week injury break.  The sharpness that comes with regular games was missing and it could be that he will return to top form just as the season closes.

Lasley’s second red card of the season will mean at least a two match suspension.  Hammell will also miss out next week as he booking against Hearts triggered a one match ban.

It’s a pity that those two long serving stalwarts will miss the last home game of the season but their omission will give an opportunity for others to shine.
