All Will be Revealed this Week

Motherwell have made no formal announcement about those under consideration but the speculation over the last fortnight has arrived at short list comprising Mark McGhee, Owen Coyle, Tommy McLean, Gary McAllister and Luc Niholt.

The qualities which each could bring to the job have been closely examined by both the press and fans but the final decision will rest with the owner. McGhee has been leading the late PR game in the papers with this article in the Sunday Herald. Its tone suggests a certain confidence.

Scott Leitch has also been quoted of late and he also talked on an announcement next week. His talk with John Boyle after he left Ross County must have contained an assurance that the new manager would have to accept him as assistant. He summed up by saying, "The manager will want to make his own decisions and I will back them 100%."

An appointment early next week would allow the new boss a week to get his bearings before the players return to begin pre-season training on June 28.
