Falkirk -- 24h On

Our first and second goals were well constructed and deservedly gave us the half time lead. We have often been in the position of dominating play for long spells only to lose out to clinical finishing from the opposition and it was a pleasure to see that we are capable of turning our only two chances of the half into goals.

Smith makes the save

A veil needs to be drawn over the comical defending which turned a two goal advantage into a one goal deficit in the space of ten minutes. We can only hope that lessons are learned.

Once again Scott McDonald demonstrated why both of the old firm were interested in obtaining his services. Time and time again he collected the ball with his back to goal, then controlled it and started to weave through a number of defenders. His close control and his ability to find the net will be sorely missed.

The warm congratulations which poured from the stands as the Voice in the Sky announced David Clarkson's name after our third goal demonstrated a healthy mixture of relief and affection. We all know that his finishing has not been good enough for the last couple of seasons but no one could criticise him for lack of effort. If Saturday's strike relieves him of some pressure and encourages him to be more confident in front of goal he may yet deliver the level of performance which his early career promised.

Another weekend looms without Motherwell playing. Setanta has decreed that we play at East End Park on Monday (7th) evening. Before that, the Pars face a crunch game with St Mirren. They are in full recovery mode as they try to keep their SPL future alive and it could be that our visit to Dunfermline proves to be the final act in this season's relegation struggle.

A 'Kids for a Quid' promotion is available for this match but tickets have to be ought in advance from the Fir Park ticket office. The gate price will be £18/£9.
