Fir Park roundup

Jamie Murphy’s good start to the season got better on Thursday when he scored the opening goal for Scotland’s U21s in Iceland.  The home side turned the game and they will come to defend a 2-1 lead in the return leg at Easter Road on Monday.  The eventual winner will take part in next year’s finals of the UEFA tournament in Denmark.  A cash gate will be open for the 7.45pm kick off and entry prices are £8 and £2 for concessions.

Stephen Craigan can be proud of his contribution to Northern Ireland’s fine goalless draw with Italy on Friday night.   His next action will be in the Faroes on Tuesday when he’ll add another cap to his impressive tally.   That will serve as his training ahead of our game on Saturday.

Motherwell’s youngsters marched on to the 3rd round of the SFA Youth Cup with a 3-0 win over Stirling Albion at Fir Park on Saturday afternoon.  Second half goals from Watt, Pollock and Howarth gave the boys the victory.

Our next SPL game comes on Saturday when we travel to Ibrox.  Some early team news arrived this weekend when it was revealed that Allan McGregor had been awarded a one game ban for his indiscretions at Pittodrie a fortnight ago.  He’ll serve that ban by missing our match.
