The SPFL has a game planned for us at Easter Road on Wednesday 26 March and to that we have to add two games against Inverness and one against St Johnstone.
Fir Park was waterlogged on 4 January and there was an early call off before the lunchtime meeting with Inverness. We were due to play St Johnstone in Perth this weekend but the League Cup semi final forced the postponement of that game.
Our second trip to Inverness is on the calendar for 15 March but our opponents will face Aberdeen in the League Cup final on Sunday 16 March so that game can be added to the list. The planners have to find space for three fixtures.
Motherwell fans, already enduring two blank weekends, are likely to have two more in March. The 8th has been set aside for the Scottish Cup and given that St Johnstone and Inverness both face lower league opposition in next week’s round they will probably be involved. On the 15th, ICT will be preparing for their final and St Johnstone will be playing Ross County in the league.
Just to add to the confusion the planners will have to keep space for possible cup replays.
