September’s issue is the 75th since Waiting for the Great Leap Forward first appeared in the autumn of 1989 some twenty one years ago. Since those early typewritten days a dedicated team has kept production going and retained the philosophy that it is an independent voice in which Motherwell fans can voice their views of the goings on at Fir Park.
Issue 75 continues the tradition in a 40 page edition that ranges far and wide. There’s more than a mention for former claret and amber heroes, a nostalgic reminiscence of season 1975/76, praise for this season’s new strip, an account of games played in 2010 to date and an in-depth focus on Sailor Hunter’s contribution to Motherwell FC.
A selection from Issue 75 joins hundreds of others going all the way back to Issue 1 which saw the light of day in 1989. They are all available in the GLF Archive.
Back issues are available for only £1 from the editor ( glfeditor@firparkcorner.com ) and contributions are welcome from any Motherwell fan. Issue 76 will be on sale before the Kilmarnock game on 4 December. Submissions are due by Friday 19 November and all are welcomed.
