Happy birthday dear Faddy....

Faddy emerged from our youth development system to pull on the first team strip at the age of 17.  In the following two seasons between 2001 and 2003 he lit up Scottish football with his flamboyant dribbling skills and eye for goal.  His scoring rate was close to a goal every other game and it was inevitable that he would be plucked from Fir Park too soon.

FADDY.JPGThe club's financial troubles at that time meant our resistance was low and he left us after contributing a brace against Partick Thistle at the end of August 2003.  His move to Everton was reported to land us £1.25 million and provided the cash to allow the club to begin an exit from administration.

Since then 'Well fans have followed his career with fond interest.  His international appearances and his spectacular goal in Paris merely reaffirmed our conviction that he was one of the best to grace the claret and amber colours.

There always remained a hope that he would return to Motherwell and to our delight he made his comeback from the bench against Dundee United in February 2013.  His commitment until the end of the season gives him a chance to regain full fitness and a place in the football shop window.  It also give a huge boot to our hope of achieving our target of finishing the SPL season in second place.

The cheer at his second coming and his contribution in recent games suggests that lots of the former sparkle remains.  With five games remaining there is still plenty that the thirtysomething can offer.

Happy Birthday Faddy - no doubt your new status as a veteran will be noted by your team mates when training resumes this week!
