We had an awful run as 2008 drew to a close; one point from seven games was certain relegation form. The return of both Clarkson and Craigan for the last game of the year proved to be a turning point. We haven't lost a game since then.

The wall stood firm

The self confidence which the team has developed in the last month was evident at Easter Road this weekend. Despite losing an early goal it always looked likely that we would take something from the game. We were in control for long spells and carved out plenty of chances.

The settled back four has been boosted by the find of the season, Maroš Klimpl. He patrols the deep midfield area breaking up potential threats and is equally happy when the ball is at his feet. He has good control and rarely gives the ball away.

We have the possibility of two Scottish cup ties this week to divert attention from the league campaign. A 9am inspection at Inverurie on Monday will determine whether the game can go ahead at the fifth time of asking. Assuming we can overcome the Highland League team we will welcome St Mirren to Fir Park for the sixth round tie next Saturday with the prize of a quarter final draw up for grabs.

There is still plenty to play for in the months ahead.
