He was delighted to see Wes Fletcher score in his first appearance for the club. The striker followed up on Moore's shot and pounced as the 'keeper failed to hold.  The game, in Holland, gave most of the squad 45 minutes action and offered a chance to put some of the training ground theory into practice.

The starting line up was Twardzik, Watt, Trialist, McManus, Chalmers,  Trialist, Lasley, Clarkson, MacLean,  Thomas and Moult.  The first half failed to produce any goals and the break gave an opportunity to shuffle the team.  There were seven changes Law, Laing, Ainsworth, Leitch, Pearson, Moore and Fletcher having their chance to get into the action..

The opener followed quickly and our opponents countered with a couple of substitutions.  With half an hour remaining Twardzik made way for Brett Long in goal.

The manager, speaking after the game to MFC TV, expressed some disappointment at the lax defending that preceded the equaliser.  But he seemed confident that there was plenty of time ahead of the opening league game to work on the shortcomings.

A stiffer test is expected on Thursday when we face Eredivisie SC Heerenveen in Drachten.
