Hughes is Mark's Man

The twenty four year old Motherwell boy joined Leicester from Rangers in January 2005 for around £100 000. He made one hundred appearances before being put on the transfer list in June 2007. It was reported that Hearts had agreed a £50 000 deal for the midfielder but we managed to keep the channel open and paid 'an undisclosed fee' for him on the last day of the current transfer window.

His agent is John Colquhoun and it could be that his view of the "shambles at Hearts" could have been an important factor in helping him to see that his future would be cest served by returning to his hometown.

The passing style adopted by McGhee should suit Hughes who seems able to play either on the left or right midfield position. With Lasley's place seeming secure it looks like Fitzpatrick may make way for the former Scotland U21 player.

Signing number two is a nineteen year old striker, Lewis Grabban, who comes from
Crystal Palace. He is described by McGhee a "unproven but has potential". Time will tell. He is on loan till the end of the year.

The manager said, "These were two of the boys I wanted when all this process started." Let's hope they do the business.
