These last few games of the season are as important to the club as any in the last couple of decades and the need to maintain the momentum that has built over that last few weeks is critical.  The players can be proud of the way they played.

It's been some time since a large visiting Motherwell crowd has been able to cheer the team from the pitch and they made their feelings clear as the home support left the ground.  The manager joined in and shared his delight with a few fist pumps that raised another cheer.

In the media centre after the game a delighted Baraclough was still beaming as he praised his team for scrapping back into the game having conceded the first goal.  Special mentions were given to Pearson for being in position to score the equaliser, McDonald for a couple of cracking shots that were foiled by good goalkeeping and Erwin for his energy and that winning goal.

The young striker’s pace and talent caused the Killie defence problems throughout the match and he had a few chances to score before his twisting turning run into the box in the 77th minute.  He switched to the left foot and drilled the ball beyond Samson to win the game with his second goal of the season.  It’s been a while since his first on the opening day of the season against St Mirren.  Is it too much to hope that he can score a third against them on Tuesday?

Credit has to go to Ross County (again!) for taking the shine off our win with their performance at Tannadice.  But as Baraclough said, “It’s all about us, we’ll drag others down.”

We now have a seven point gap over St Mirren and the belief that it can be stretched to ten if the team can maintain present form.  As the season shortens every game takes on a greater importance and the big game on Tuesday deserves to see the home stands packed with fans backing the team.
